Medication in two places: keep one clear stock count

Reconcile a medicine kept in more than one place, count each unit once and distinguish moving existing stock from adding a new supply.

Part of a medicine supply is in one place and the rest is somewhere else. You check the first package, update the app and later discover that the second package had already been included in the total. Now the physical quantity and the recorded quantity disagree.

Start with a list of where you already keep that medicine and a physical count. Follow its packaging and ask a pharmacist about storage questions.

Define what you are counting

Check the product name, strength and form before combining any quantities. Two packages with similar names do not necessarily contain the same medicine. The current medication list guide helps you check those details against packaging and confirmed instructions.

Use the unit that matches the stock record. A box, a blister strip and an individual tablet are different quantities. Read the app’s stock setup carefully, and do not copy the number of packages into a field that expects individual units.

If the packaging is unclear or the units do not match your record, resolve that uncertainty before changing the total. The FDA’s medication-list guidance is useful for keeping product identification separate from the supply calculation.

Count each quantity once

Keep a brief location checklist outside the app. Mark each place as checked so you do not count the same package twice or forget a separate supply.

For example, a stock check for the same tablet product could find 12 tablets in one place and 8 in another, giving 20 tablets in total. These are inventory quantities only. They say nothing about how many tablets to take or how long the medicine should last.

Once all locations are checked, compare the total with the recorded quantity. Check that the app quantity refers to the same form of the medicine and uses the same units. Do not collapse unlike forms into a single number just to make the record simpler.

Moving stock does not create more stock

If you move three of those tablets from the first place to the second, the combined total remains 20. A transfer between places where you keep the same supply is not a new purchase or an intake.

Update the external location checklist if you use one. Do not add those three tablets as new stock in the app when they were already included in its total. Actual replenishment, recorded use and a correction to an incorrect count are separate events.

Glucose and Blood Sugar Track’s Premium Medicine Supply feature supports stock additions, recorded-use changes and recounts. It does not provide a storage-location checklist for the example above. The Medicine Supply guide explains the stock workflow and its limits.

Correct a mismatch using a checked quantity

Before making a correction, look for an ordinary explanation: an unrecorded addition, a package counted twice or recorded activity that needs checking. Inspect the recent stock activity rather than adding repeated adjustments until the number happens to match.

When a physical recount is the appropriate correction, use the verified quantity and review the result after saving. Keep enough context to remember why the correction was made. A stock estimate is only as useful as the entries and configuration behind it.

Medicine Supply requires Premium; the free medication feature allows one medication record, while unlimited medication records also require Premium. Neither a stock count nor a low-supply reminder places a pharmacy order or confirms collection is ready.

At the end of the check, you should be able to explain which packages contributed to the quantity in the record. Keep the external location note private, and repeat the check when a mismatch needs resolving rather than treating the app’s estimate as a physical count.

A personal tracking tool, not a medical device. The app does not measure blood sugar or provide medical advice. Review scanned values and food estimates before saving.
